history ,
- - - It was a warm, August day when Maria ward went into labor with her first and only child. Her labor was fairly quick, only a couple of hours until Landon Noah Ward was finally here. Frank Ward, Landon's father, was close by his wife's side, scared out of his wits and silently praying for a successful and healthy birth of his son. When Landon finally took his first breath, he weighed in at a whopping nine pounds, two ounces. The birth had gone as perfect as any birth could have gone. Three days after, Maria and little Landon were free to go home. The Ward family wasn't rich, but they had just enough to get by. The small family lived in Boulder, Colorado in an old-fashioned home. Maria was an interior designer, so there home always looked wonderful. Frank was the preacher at their local church in town, St. Andrew's. The town they lived in was small enough -- and connected enough -- to have the Ward family known by most of the community. There were always many conversations to be had with people in the town whenever the Wards left home. Of course, when Landon arrived, everyone wanted to meet the preacher's new baby son. Landon was kind of a mischievous little kid. He would always get into things he wasn't supposed to. When he first learned to crawl, he'd get into his mother's cooking utensils or makeup or you name it. By the time he could walk, Landon was a little terror around his house. His parents would get frustrated with him, but it didn't make them love him any less. They knew they'd be able to teach him right from wrong in no time.
There prayers were answered, by the time Landon was two, he had learned his proper manners and the way to behave in front of everyone. He was a little gentleman to everyone he met. They had truly turned into a happy and blessed family. But that all changed when Landon was about four years old. Tragedy had struck the Ward family when Maria was driving home from her office late one night and was hit by a drunk driver. Her car spun off the highway and rolled over, crushing her to death. The drunk driver, thankfully, wasn't injured except for a broken wrist and was sent to prison. But just sending this reckless man to jail wouldn't heal the pain that Frank and Landon felt for the loss of Maria. It was extremely hard trying to explain the death of his mother to Landon. He was only four, how was he supposed to understand death and that his mother was never coming home? But Frank didn't want to lie to his son about Maria. He was always honest with him. The funeral was very hard for Landon. He saw all his family members crying and grieving for his mother. He finally, sort of, understood. As best as he could. After the shock of Maria's death had withered away, Frank was left to raise Landon on his own. He was scared, but he had faith in himself and in Landon.
Landon and Frank continued their lives together. As Landon grew older, and started to fully understand the concept of death, he became bitter about his mother. He started to detach himself from his father, because he didn't want to go through the pain of losing him if anything did ever happen to him. When he got into Middle School, he started acting out for attention. It wasn't like him at all. He'd talk back to the teachers, he'd never do his homework, even though he was so smart. His father was very disappointed in him. And would preach to him about the values of education and proper behavior. It just aggravated Landon instead of helping him and he'd only act out more. Landon loved his dad, but he just couldn't get close to him. He continued his ways and soon he experimented with drugs and alcohol. Frank was a little too fed up and when he found out about Landon's substance abuse, he arranged for Landon to go to a boarding school in California that had just opened its doors to boys. Landon was sad to leave his father, but happy to be leaving. It would just separate them more so. Landon successfully moved to California and bid his farewells to his father. California was only two states over from Colorado, they'd still be close. And keep in touch, Frank assured Landon. Landon settled right in. He enjoyed the warm weather and the rather high-class learning and studying he was doing. Landon is now entering his second year here and isn't the rebel he was back home. He got off the drugs and stopped partying so much. Now, he's focusing on his studies and sports.

HEY THERE, I'M LUCY AND I'M EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD! I'VE BEEN RUNNING AROUND THE ROLEPLAY WORLD FOR FOUR YEARS? AND YOU CAN CHECK OUT MY ROLEPLAY SAMPLE BELOW! AS YOU CAN SEE, I'M USING CHANNING TATUM AS THE PLAY-BY FOR THIS CHARACTER. OH, AND MY OTHER CHARACTERS ARE NADA!
heath knew karissa wasn't exactly being a good friend to amber by telling him one of her secrets. probably one she didn't want him to hear. but heath was glad that she told him in a way. he wasn't exactly sure how he'd deal with it now. or how he'd deal with it in the near future. but he knew he would. amberlin was amazing. there was no doubt about that. heath thought she was an awesome girl. if he wanted to date anyone, anyone at all, he probably would have asked her. but that was the thing. heath didn't want to date anyone. not right now at least. he wasn't a manslut or a womanizer or any of those new words created for guys who didn't want a commitment. he simply wasn't in a place to have a relationship right now. but that fact was making heath feel bad now. amber liked him and his reason for not wanting to date her? music was his girlfriend. it sounded like a song in itself.
heath walked next to her as slow as he could. he hated to have her be put on the spot but she didn't really have a choice right now. the spotlight was on her to give him the truth he needed. though, her reaction thus far seemed like everything karissa had said was true. his solid, stone face soon cracked a smile at the sound of amber's laughter. he liked to see that she wasn't beating herself up about this and acting tried to have a sense of humor about all of it. he nodded. "especially with karissa's big mouth." he said. karissa was the only person who really ever filled him in on gossip. he mainly tried to stay as far away as possible. his brothers was more entitled to gossip then he ever was. heath noticed that amberlin had stopped and he slowly stopped, too. he turned to face her just as she did to face him. heath didn't want to make eye contact but he could feel amber's eyes on his. slowly he lifted his eyelids and looked at her. "yeah, i do. i've liked you for a while." he closed his eyes slowly before opening them again. "um, oh. wow." he nodded slowly, processing what he already known.
as the bell rang, heath stood there, just looking at her. he wasn't exactly sure what to say. he shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans and balanced on the balls of his feet. "i guess karissa wasn't lying then." it wasn't exactly a good thing to say. but it was something to say, at the very least. he heard classroom doors slam all around him, but didn't have a care to even go to his class now. he wanted to skip the rest of school and just hang out with amberlin.... why was he thinking like that? he didn't like her like she liked him. they were just friends. he was allowed to want to hang out with his friend... alone... wasn't he? he took a deep breath. he smiled at her compliment. "i'm hardly irresistible," he said, half-smiling. "but thanks, amber." he looked deep into her eyes and shrugged. "look, amber. you're amazing. you're one of my best friends and you always will be..." he didn't know where he was going with that thought, so he stopped talking all together.
they stood there in the silence for a moment until amber yelped in pain as she put her backpack over her shoulder. he tilted his head, to see what had caused her sudden cry of pain. at first he thought it was a trick of the light or some kind of weird reflection, but he knew what he saw after another second. there was a huge blue, almost black bruise on amberlin's shoulder. his brow furrowed and he looked back into her eyes. "oh my god, how did you get that?" he asked her, concerned. he took a step closer to her, he wanted to get a better look. it wasn't a usual spot for a bruise, the a knee or an elbow. it wasn't like she possibly could have ran into the wall with the top of her shoulder. "amber..." he said quietly as he tried to lift up her sleeve more to get a better look.
